Welcome to Kolkata

What are the unique qualities of Kolkata?

It is a friendly city with plenty of cultural and social activities. One is never felt to be alone in this large cosmopolitan city. The city is best known for its art and theatre.

What about the local food?

Bengali Food has its own taste, different from other Indian regional food. It is mild with sweet taste that has its own speciality of wholesome qualities. Bengal’s specialityare prepared from tasty dishes from different varieties of river fish, that one should not miss out while in Kolkata.

What do you like most about the attitude of people in the city?

Visitors are never treated as strangers to the city. A helpful and caring attitude by the people here is what I like the most.

Landmarks that a visitor can take his family to:

Victoria Memorial ; Largest Mangrove forest of the World, Sundarbans ; Marble Palace, Rabindra Bhavan, Place where the Nobel Laurent Kabi Rabindra Nath Tagore stayed; Belur Math, the place of Swami Vivekananda; Writers’ Building, Political Seat of Power of Bengal etc.

An ideal place for an evening hangout?

Famous Park Street for delicious food starts, and the malls like the South City Mall beside City Centre and Mani Square.

What's your 'welcome message' to the visitors ?

Enjoy the City Of Joy.

Is the city transforming itself for tomorrow ?

Old City with its own bottleneck of limited roads built during British days, is slowly gearing up itself to a modern outlook, adding new complexes of modern high rise building, forming into IT hubs and business treading centre and slowly waking up to the calls of fast track development of infrastructure required for easy life tomorrow.
