Broken Images, a psychological thriller, written by Girish Karnad and directed by Alyque Padamsee and casts Shabana Azmi will be staged first time in Kolkata. It is a conversation between two sisters, one in the real realm and the other in the virtual. The most interesting part of this play is Shabana Azmi will play both the roles of two sisters named Manjula and Malini. Manjula Sharma, not a very successful Hindi short-story writer, suddenly becomes wealthy and internationally famous by writing a best-seller in English. The question haunting Manjula is, whether in opting for the global audience, has she betrayed her own language and identity?
